Self-discipline is number one in the criteria we all need in order to achieve success with our self-improvement aims. Self improvement success demands in us the ability to push ourselves and not settle for half best. Ask yourself all the time, am I a winner or loser?



It would be wrong to say that all people want to succeed in life, to achieve their goals. Believe me and look around and you will see that there are many, many people without drive, determination and ambition. Many people who are seemingly happy with what they’ve got. They are the followers, the ones who are led. Do you want to be a follower, of course not. You desire self improvement. You want the better things in life. You want true fitness and wealth with which you can fully enjoy life and succeed.



So, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to zoom out of the starting blocks but then fail at the first hurdle? Just remember this, ALL hurdles are there to test you. Do you have the inner determination to get over these hurdles? Those who succeed are the ones who look for the solution to get over those hurdles and on to the next one. This is how to progress your self improvement objectives, the keep getting over those hurdles (problems) that are put in front of you. What is self improvement? Self improvement is a choice, and we choose to change ourselves from within.




What will keep happening in your efforts is the unexpected. The sudden appearance of an unknown or unthought-of happenings that threaten to throw a spanner in the works. You therefore have to be adaptable and accept that at times your strategy will need to be flexible. Remember this with flexibility in mind - "plan your work and work your plan".



If, at this point you are still serious about improving yourself, but are sort of feeling down in yourself, take out your plan and do this,



Write down on your plan, something you’ve already completed. Then immediately cross it off again. In doing this, you will get that immediate lift, a renewed sense of achieving something, a boost to your determination to succeed.



Whilst planning your work and working your plan is fundamental to your self improvement success, do not let your plan get bogged down by routine. We know that some daily routines cannot be changed, going to work for 8 hours or taking the kids to school, for example. These routines are our safety barriers that make our lives comfortable and feel secure. The advise is, rather than getting into a hole with routine, to do at least one thing everyday that is different to this normal routine. Just taking that coffee break at a different time or reading another chapter of your book can make a big difference to your mind-set.




The best rules to follow are 1. Learn to control your life. 2. Do not let your life control you. 3. Do not let life get to you. 4. Take life with a pinch of salt.

If you follow these rules you will have a stress free life and a having a stress free life is the only way you will keep achieving your self improvement goals.
